Biography

Jonnie MartinFirst I was a Child. Then a Writer. Then an Adult, a Wife, a Mother, a Business Professional, a Speaker, a Teacher, a Consultant, and now again, a Writer.

My affinity with journalism started early in junior high and continued 15 years into adulthood as a newspaper writer, with by-lines for columns and human interest stories.

Born in Texas, I migrated to Michigan, California and Washington, getting a broad view of life in these United States, and our rainbow of people and issues.

In my 30-plus years of business leadership, my writing ranged from strategic plans, manuals and research reports to marketing campaigns, lectures and two mini-texts.

Today I have returned to my journalistic roots, addressing issues of importance, through both Fiction and Non-Fiction literary forms.

Education along the way has included: BA in English-Literature-Creative Writing, Marylhurst University; BBA in Accounting summa cum laude, Cleary College; Master Studies at University of Portland; Tin House Summer Writers' Workshop.

The trouble with young writers is that they are all in their sixties.
~ W. Somerset Maugham
